Competitive play
Ranked play with rules you can read
Hexed runs separate ladders for 1v1 and four-player matchmaking. Those queues do not use bots at the start, the search range widens on a defined schedule, and every completed result links back to a recorded game.

Ranked matchmaking does not start with bots
Casual queues may use clearly labeled fill bots. Ranked matchmaking does not. Normal ranked matching also keeps players on the same internet address apart, except for approved events and tests. An optional fallback can relax that address check after a complete group has waited.
Matchmaking widens while you wait
Matchmaking begins within a narrow rating range and widens step by step while you wait, up to a maximum band. If an optional fallback is enabled, a full group that has waited can be seated outside that band. Hexed does not promise an instant match.
1v1 and four-player records stay separate
Each format keeps its own rating, peak, wins, losses, and game count. The multiplayer calculation accounts for placement and victory points. New ranked records begin at 1200.
Leaving has a defined competitive result
After the reconnect window, leaving a ranked 1v1 ends in a forfeit. In a larger match, a bot can operate the abandoned seat so the table can finish, while the departing player's victory points freeze and any return is spectator-only.
Ranked questions
Can a bot start a ranked game?
No. Ranked matchmaking does not use bots at the start. An announced AI takeover may operate a seat only after a player abandons a match that still needs to finish.
Does AI practice change my rating?
No. AI practice and casual bot-fill games are separate from the ranked ladders.
Can I review a ranked match?
Yes. Completed games keep a replay. Supported base-game replays can also receive engine analysis after the match.
Put one result on the right ladder
Choose 1v1 or four-player matchmaking. Your record, replay, and rating change stay attached to that format.
